The newest addition to the Maple River Grain & Agronomy facility list is a 38,000 ton dry fertilizer plant, located in Casselton. This facility was built to handle the fast pace of today's highly efficient crop producers. The plant is equipped for both retail and wholesale operation. The 200 ton wholesale tower contains 4-50 ton overhead bins with a 16 ton scale for very efficient loading capacity to wholesale accounts. The 200 ton retail tower houses 7 overhead bins, a 14 ton scale and two 14 ton blenders to allow efficient blending of multiple products for the high-capacity equipment used today. The fertilizer mega-plant was built to support high-speed rail unload to allow the use of fertilizer shuttle trains. At 1200 tons per hour capacity we can unload a 100 ton railcar in less than 6 minutes. The plant became fully operational in April 2009 and was considered our most valuable asset for the hectic spring planting season that followed.
